The 400 elderly beneficiaries are from the Central Singapore CDC’s Bright Home programme. This programme aims to provide sustainable assistance and social interaction to low income elderly residents in the Central Singapore District.
In addition to the Lo Hei luncheon, the senior citizens were entertained by staff performances and music from a local Chinese orchestra. They were also presented with goodie bags filled with red packets and Mandarin oranges.
Chief Executive Officer/Group Managing Director of OUE Mr Thio Gim Hock said: “Chinese New Year symbolises family gatherings and respect paid to the elderly. Through this initiative, we hope to bring cheer to those among the senior community who need our care. Despite the current economic gloom, OUE remains committed to its corporate social responsibility programme.”
According to Mayor Zainudin Nordin: "In difficult times like this, it is important that we continue to care for our people in need. In this regard, the support from the private sector is especially invaluable in helping us build a caring and cohesive society."
