At Meritus Hotels & Resorts, we are proud of the role we have played thus far, supporting selected programmes that bring tangible results in aid of causes that support ecological sustainability and the welfare of children and the elderly, especially in the areas of health and education.

As our organisation continues to grow and evolve, we are evermore dedicated to taking a personal, unified approach in caring for our society and bringing about sustainable improvements where we can.
Supporting our local communities
We continue to take a community-driven approach to caring for our society through financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteer work by the different teams within our organisation.
Closest to our hearts are causes that alleviate hunger, poverty, and illnesses, particularly amongst children.
Our annual ‘Stars of Christmas’ charity drive continue the tradition of spreading the joy of the Yuletide Season to beneficiaries of non-profit organisations committed to providing programmes and services to help children who have special needs or are suffering from a range of chronic and life-threatening illnesses. With the philanthropic support of donors and volunteers, we at Meritus work together with partner organisations to bring hope and cheer to the beneficiaries and their families.
Caring for the environment
Respect for Mother Earth is central to our business strategy. At Meritus Hotels & Resorts, we aim to increase our operational efficiency through a greener approach – working to reduce our direct impact on the environment, and creating more sustainable ways of doing business.
Our deepening commitment to protect the environment is reflected in the sustainability programmes rolled out across our hotels and resorts.
As part of the group-wide ‘Meritus Loves the Earth’ green campaign, guests and employees alike are actively engaged in waste reduction and energy conservation measures, practising the 3 Rs (Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle) where possible. The hotels’ food and beverage operations also champion sustainable alternatives to endangered seafood items, amongst other eco-friendly initiatives, to include collaborative efforts with relevant organisations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Creating opportunities for talent growth and excellence
Developing talent and growing their pool remain an essential part of our long-term strategy. We are committed to tackling this issue not only within our businesses, but throughout the society at large.

- Mandarin Orchard Singapore was conferred the 2011 Singapore Green Hotel Award. Organised by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) and supported by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), National Environment Agency (NEA), Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the annual Singapore Green Hotel Award seeks to recognise hotels for their endeavour in adopting environmentally-friendly practices to conserve the Earth.
- Meritus Hotels & Resorts received the Most Admired Enterprise Award in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility at the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) 2011. Held in conjunction with the 19th ASEAN Business & Investment Summit, the annual ABA seeks to recognise the most outstanding and successful ASEAN companies contributing to ASEAN's economic growth and prosperity, and operated in environmentally friendly principles.
- Mandarin Orchard Singapore was conferred the ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award 2012. The ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Programme is a joint initiative by the National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) of the ASEAN nations, with the primary objective of enhancing the role of the tourism sector in contributing to the sustainability of the environment.
